The BTTC used to be brilliant, all the major manufacturers with proper works teams. Not quite the same any more, like WRC everyone has dropped out. The mid 90's was a brilliant time for touring cars and some of the closest most exciting racing I have ever witnessed!

Can't say I have watched much of the current WRC season. My problem is that I used to like motor sport were the cars they use are fairly similar to the ones you could buy. The current crop of WRC have nothing in common to their road cousins so I have nothing to relate to. I liked the idea that the cars you saw winning you could go out and buy something similar, like the old Sierra Cosworths or even the Volvo above. If it wasn't for this formula than there is no way on earth Subaru would have sold so many cars as they have!

+1 BTCC went the same way....what's the point of a Honda Civic that uses a Vauxhall derived engine and double wishbone suspension when the road car has McPhersons and a VTEC engine?

Honestly, no offence but I never knew people raced bulky estates. I know it's ignorant of me, sorry.
I do find estates (no matter how turbo-charged and chipped they are) racing with each other rather hilarious, apologies again.
Mind you, I've seen HGV lorries racing with each other on motorways, so hey.
