Default BTCC 2014 Estate Entered.

Just flicked on motors tv and caught a interview with Matt Neil, to my surprise he will be racing a Civc touring (estate) in the coming years series. Should make for even more exciting racing. Well done Honda Volvo...

The BTTC used to be brilliant, all the major manufacturers with proper works teams. Not quite the same any more, like WRC everyone has dropped out. The mid 90's was a brilliant time for touring cars and some of the closest most exciting racing I have ever witnessed!

True but I have to say after going to a few rounds of it over the last 2 years now it's still bloody good racing. As for the WRC, did you watch Monti Carlo?? Cracking opening round I thought.

Can't say I have watched much of the current WRC season. My problem is that I used to like motor sport were the cars they use are fairly similar to the ones you could buy. The current crop of WRC have nothing in common to their road cousins so I have nothing to relate to. I liked the idea that the cars you saw winning you could go out and buy something similar, like the old Sierra Cosworths or even the Volvo above. If it wasn't for this formula than there is no way on earth Subaru would have sold so many cars as they have!

I did hear that the only reason Volvo entered an estate was they had no saloons available at such short notice

i think thats a myth , the reason was the estates long roof offered better aero.

once aero aids were allowed in the rules they switched to the saloon

+1 BTCC went the same way....what's the point of a Honda Civic that uses a Vauxhall derived engine and double wishbone suspension when the road car has McPhersons and a VTEC engine?

Honestly, no offence but I never knew people raced bulky estates. I know it's ignorant of me, sorry.

I do find estates (no matter how turbo-charged and chipped they are) racing with each other rather hilarious, apologies again.

Mind you, I've seen HGV lorries racing with each other on motorways, so hey.

I've just bought an 850R Estate, I've liked them ever since I saw that beast in the BTCC and wanted one ever since!

Those were the days, I remember watching Rickard Rydell wrestling one of those, very entertainingly, round Oulton
