Was it the faults of poofters when Noah had to build that great big Arc, I wonder who got the blame for that one then?

I think UKIP appeals to my inner Eurosceptic but they do seem to have a few eccentrics (or worse) amongst their ranks. The UKIP deputy leader was on QT the other night and seemed to perform pretty well (well he didn't say anything too controversial, at least).

I respect UKIP for respecting his right to have this opinion whilst making clear it is not UKIP's party line. It irritates me mildly when other party leaders make personal condemnations of those who might say something that embarasses the party and issues a 'profound' apology on their behalf.

To be frank I'd rather read what they have to say rather than the political peacocking/ one-upmanship typically found on TV roundtable interviews (especially on QT). Although granted it does allow me to see what kind of characters they are and how they behave when confronted. To be honest most members of most parties show up in a poor/immature light when the debate gets heated.

1) He recently defected from SN's favorites, the Tories, where his views are probably commonplace if the truth were known.
2) He has just been suspended by UKIP.
People will say stupid thigs from time to time and it is how their party reacts to them that is key. In this case UKIP have suspended him, whereas the Labour Party elected their idiot as their leader

I don't think politicians should be religious, well, not overtly, it is British politics not American TV Evangelism.
Very hard to respect someone with views like that, I kind of prefer it if dangerous nutjobs actually out themselves like that.

I share the discomfort of anyone who thinks he's a bit inappropriate. Nigel certainly isn't having any of it, although if you really want nutters try the Greens.
Having said that at least none of them advocate decapitation.

Anyone who actually actually really really believes in made up gods and made up religions shouldn't be permitted to represent anyone anywhere. If you are an American politician you obviously have to say you believe in "almardy gawd" as there are so many religious nutjobs, but we can live without it here.
