I want one of those belt buckles Traders have with an internal nuclear power supply for generating a small shield around my body for when I go into hand-to-hand combat.

Read them a long time ago... and yes... he was right... but if you want to read something really freaky... read 'First & Last Men' by Olaf Stapleton.... there is a reference on page 23 (don't quote me) but you'll know it when you see it.... then compare it to when the book was written.... spoooooky.... the rest of the book is definitely worth a read....
What about - Animal Farm, Brave New World, Stranger in a Strange Land, Childhood's End ... I can go on... these people had more than just a vivid imagination.
