Default Keighley Trade Centre

Copied from the PistonHeads Yorkshire forum:

"It would seem that Keighley Trade Centre is now trading under the name 'Motor Hub', and they have relocated to an old multi-storey car park at Damside, Keighley.

You have been warned"

Warned indeed.

Fair enough. You cant warn people too much though.

My interest in Japanese cars has flagged over the last few years, along with my interest in SN, so Im not surprised that I hadnt heard before.

To be fair I thought it had been posted before, but as GC8 says you can't be warned too many times about this lot

Saw motorhub on autotrader and I noticed the cars were too cheap for the spec. A quick search showed it was kieghley trade.

I know they're dodgy but what is the main problem with cars from there?

Well, from what I've seen on threads over the years;

Often crash repaired badly - massive panel gaps, poor paint, missing trim etc

Cars advertised as something they aren't - WRXs dressed up to look like STIs and then sold as an STI

Overall poor condition of cars

They don't allow test drives or even some cases won't even start them up.

Ignorant staff who talk to people like sh**

Extremely bad after sales

Refusal of warranty work

I'm sure other people could probably add to that list from their experiences with them

They still seem to sell cars though even with the rep! People need to do their research.

Yep, they're making profit from selling cars that really shouldn't be on the road, there is also the possibility that not all of their money is legit...

They appeal to the uneducated when it comes to cars and sell cars at slightly lower than average market value which appeals even more. If someone is stupid enough to buy a car from them then they deserve everything they get.

which is exactly what happened to a mate of mine,he was attracted to a gto they had for sale around 7-8 years ago,he went and viewed it and bought it without doing any back-ground check etc

after 4 weeks the ecu failed, the auto box **** itself and the front caliper pretty much welded itself shut on the 'new' but not new front pads

they really are a bunch of cowboys with no respect for anybody and no aftersales help at all

buy from an enthusiast who has cherished their car

I think you could have an 80ft Neon sign right outside the place telling people not to buy from them and people would still go in there.

Im surprised that it hasnt ened in tears for them. After ten or so years of ripping people off, you expect the wrong person to have kicked off with them.

I've spoken to so many people about them and the consensus is pretty much universal.

No one has a clue how they are still going and haven't gone to jail or been bumped off by an angry customer!

People would buy a dog turd pie for dinner if you made it cheap enough!

Same with cars - my dad told me 50 years ago that dodgy cars and dodgy people go together...... they attract each other.

My best advice to anyone buying a car is - never buy a cheap one!

Fair enough.

I know of a couple of places locally that were prosecuted for winding back mileage odometers, but that might have been easy enough to prove I suppose.

Go to trading standards mate. Warranty or not, they can't just wash their hands of the car as soon as it's out of the door. And bang some full stops in your paragraph. I'm out of breath now!

Yes somewhat unfortunately for them, i'm sure there are plenty of well educated people that have been scammed also by the lure of a cheap car, they are using peoples natural instinct of something for nothing against them. Freud would say they deserve one another.

They are in fact providing a public service by educating people to the nasty outside world and introducing them to age old sayings such as "If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is" and "You don't get something for nothing in this life" not a nice way to find out granted, but at least those affected will learn a valuable life lesson, Sigmund would be proud.

This was the thread I posted about their change of name last year. I was after a S-GT which they had but its the same one thats been on their forecourt for the last 5 years. I had a look and the condition is poor for a car thats only done 1,500 miles.
