Default The Daily Express and the weather

Since the BBC has taken to having a papers section on the front of the news page I have noticed that every other day the Express leads with some ludicrous headine about the weather

Headlines such as (not exact quotes, but in the same style):

'Philippines style hurricane to hit Britiain'

'Arctic storms set to paralyse Britain'

'Twelve days of Christmas weather hell'

'100mph storm set to cause Christmas chaos'

I detest the likes of the DM, but this is not even news. It's pure made up sh1te and I don't even really blame the paper as it's the absolute cretins who buy it that need a good slap. How stupid do you have to be to want to pay money to read crap like that day in day out? FFS!!!!

the thing that gets me is that all these sad ***** that read it and believe it then go out and buy enough food to last a month, the supermarkets are a nightmare when all this weather crap gets spouted in the news.

"oh no we are going to have 10 years of siberian snow-i better go out and buy 15 loaves of bread as this will save me"

its just scare tactics

Yes, why do the British panic buy bread when anything happens that might close the supermarket for a whole day?

god knows, even if we did get 10 years of such & such weather-bread wont ****ing save your sorry ***,we will have to learn to adapt and thats that, theres not alot more you can do really.

what gets me is every year we have a few inches of snow and the country becomes grid-lock............why?? other countries can manage,do we get extra cold-extra slippy snow over here?

It's actually got to the point nowadays that people are not allowed to die or have accidents anymore.

Yep, that was perfectly illustrated in the last storm. 4 people died and the media were on some tragedy parade over it, yet on average 5 people die on our roads every day, but no one mentions that!

but that is not surprising as, as you say 5 people die every day on the roads

this level of death has been normalised

if 5 people died every in the UK day due to storms - the media coverage would ignore it in the same way

just look at the reporting in the middle east - absolute carnage with 7/7 bomb style bomb attacks day in day out - drones strikes wipping out whole families on a depressingly regular basis

all normalised, the death toll has been normalised, and people are simply numb to it, but "killer trees" have some residual interest

But its as if now a days when we have some snow, ice, winds etc,the media I would say are trying to put the ***** up people,as if it's some kind of unusual freak weather storm this country rarely has.when I was a kid everyone just got on with it,I still went to school when it snowed and so on.Now a days it's lock yourself up in your homes, don't go out because it's winter and we might have some winter weather...

Only 18 loaves? You might run out, so I'd head back out and get at least another 20
