One fog light on!! Grrrrrrr
Whats the benefit to the driver on new cars of having one fog light come on when turning???
Starting to do my head in seeing cars coming around a roundabout with the right front light on, then it flicking to the left one on as the turn off......
They also seem not to use indicators now ..... aagggghhhhhh!!!!!

But for years the law said that your lights had to be equal on both sides of the car and now they don't
The other night saw a Discovery stationary but indicating. The headlight by the indicator was off. Was quite confusing from a distance.

I've got these on the BM, not the fog lights though, part of the main headlight cluster, the fogs are in the front spoiler (i.e. low down where they need to be).
You're obviously jealous if you don't have them

the ones I saw today were on a golf I thing and they were low down in the bumper where a fog would be not in the main cluster...
And that clip above states a fog light can be used.

I came up to a roundabout yesterday and a small car (couldn't see what) was approaching from the right. No indication but the left front fog light flicked on, he went left and then the light went off.
I've no idea what the point of the lights are and surely you still need to indicate, although only 50% of drivers seem to indicate these days anyway.

Had these on my Jap import Honda Prelude years ago. Failed the MOT because of it as headlights at the front both had to come on at the same time (or whatever the wording says).
Not much use in a well lit area, but I found them useful on unlit rounds to show where the curb was when turning. Particularly if you had sunken drains in the gutter or mud/grass verges bulging into the road it would highlight them.

Got them on the BMW...they use a 21watt non-halogen bulb. Which is pretty pointless compared to active cornering HIDs which move the main headlamp beam aim left and right with the steering (which it also has and does make a difference) - like a 1970's Citroen.
I've seen many cars, mainly VAGs and Merc use the fog lamp instead, they are dimmed though so its not full 55watt of halogen (as I've noted in VAG-com/VCDS coding. on VAGs).
I never see the point in them - it just makes the indictors harder to see from the dazzle.

This drives me mad too! I just hate seeing it once a car has come off a roundabout a one fog light is on. It just looks faulty!!
Not to mention it seems completely pointless, just another stupid feature some tool on a board room as dreamt up.
I also hate automatic headlights though and most other modern features on new nanny state cars.

The headlights themselves, as you say, are pretty fabulous the way they follow the road and you see the beam moving as you turn into a corner etc. I believe they also move up and down as well as side to side, and for an added dimension adjusts the throw depending upon how fast you're driving

I must admit I've not found them to be the brightest things on the planet, being a non-halogen 21watt bulb would explain that. Wonder if they could be upgraded to something a bit brighter and whiter. That's the other annoyance on the E60, got these lovely bright white HIDs but yellow angel eyes, I am tempted to get a LED kit to sort that out.
On the F07 5 series the cornering lamps are just a standard LLB382 bulb - often found in rear fog lamps. So there are plenty of after market bulbs that'll fit and match the colour of the HIDs. just make sure they are compatible with the bulb failure sensing, as if not it will disable the lamp entirely.
E60 Angel eyes are a bit trickier are they use a special mini halogen bulb with its own reflector so need a custom kit to upgrade. The later BMWs use LED angel eyes as DRLs and bloody bright when fully lit ( they are dimmed when the headlamps are turned on ).
Just be aware if you make them too bright. People may not see your indicators as they are housed in the same light cluster ( although the HIDs are too so it's a bit of a moot point).

Talking of indicators, the rear circular items in modern Golfs hardly show up as they are built into the centre of the rear light and even more difficult to spot whilst brake lights are on too.
Yeh those front directional lights are weird, especially on vehicles where the front fogs double up as this feature.
My M3 has them built into the front light cluster and is fairly useful down dark roads but pointless elsewhere. I'd disable them If I could.
Another annoying feature of modern cars is indicators that have to flash 3 times when you really want them to go off once or twice.
I disabled that sh1te straight away when I first saw it in the menu options of my car.

Buses are the worst as sometimes they indicate to pull away or stop...but you can't see because the brake lights around encircling the indicators makes them very difficult to see.
Range Rovers never indicate so it doesn'rt really matter
