Theres a v5 Sti TypeR for £16k in for sale.

You could add a bit more and get an S3, TT ?

Supra TT ? cars are fairly cheap and insurance isnt too bad either..

Evo4 if you can find one ? guess thats a bit out of the question for cheap running costs tho...

You want something fun and good to track I guess? Forget the TT and S3 IMHO, unless you want to spend alot on modifications (brakes, chips - then the insurance becomes an issue).
Caterham/westie too impractical? Maybe a VX220 - they've lost alot of money very quickly, insurance cheaper than an S2 Elise and engine more suited to road use IMHO - a bit more torquey.
How about a Elan S2? Fine car, not sure what they cost these days though.

VX220.. now theres an idea.. 2.2 engine isnt bad and I know a couple of people developing turbo kits for it.

Can be problems decatting them ( it has 2 lambda sensors and if you remove the car it flags the ECU light as the readings are too similar before and after the cat ).. but there is a way around it.

Wink

Hope you are back to health after the accident mate.

Go and test drive an MR2 Mark 3... a mate is big time into car handling and test drove an Elise and an MR2 and went for the MR2..

I drove it and if you like the Elise you'll love the MR2..
slightly more comfortable with similar handling and power...

Out of interest as I have always loved the Elise, how did it fair in the accident?

Have you thought of running 2 cars?

A cheap enjoyable run a round and, say a Caterham/Westie?

106 rallye being the everyday car, for example.

this is the route I'll be going, once I've sorted out my finances
