Cool.
I have a client who, when he first became a client, was in Libya. He had to get out of their pretty quick when it all went to pot. His company based him in Egypt. He met someone, they have a 18 month old and Egypt goes to pot so they come to the UK.
He asks his contract manager for somewhere quiet - with his new family - manager replies "We are building the new sarcophagus for Chernobyl, you can go there"

If you enjoy really big engineering or need to dig quite a big hole, here's an example of some kit that we make crossing a road. It's not the quickest (1km/hr) but you wouldn't want to get in its way...
On the night one you can see an operators cabin near the wheel or the brave VW golf down below which gives you a bit of perspective. Just the 33,000 cubic meters per day

Parts of the reactor building are so contaminated you would get a lethal does within just a few seconds. Really Chernobyl and Fukushima just kill dead any arguments for nuclear power. Risks are potentially enormous and only calculable in hindsight.

This website may be of interest re Chernobyl - its by the daughter of one of the guys involved in the clean up and she was allowed access to the closed areas.

I didn`t notice anyone with a burning lamp opening out holes that don`t line up. Pretty amazing considering the number of holes in the bolted plates.
