I had a foreign sounding guy call me one day to say I was experiencing problems on my PC. Of course I knew this was a scam straight away so replied that we didn't have any PCs in the house, so don't know where he'd got that info from. He sounded quite angry when he explained that everyone has a PC, but I kept protesting the opposite. I'll give him his dues, he didn't give up straight away!

I've had a few of these calls, I just wind them up now. Last one was "Brad" with an Indian accent. I told them to wait on the line whilst I pretended to boot up my Windows PC, took five minutes out to make a cup of coffee, patient fellow was still there when I came back with my cuppa and then told him I use Linux.

My mum had the same phonecall a couple of days ago from an indian woman, My mum is pretty old fashioned and doesn't own a computer and is a bit of a racist too to be honest so you can imagine how the call went

I actually know someone stupid enough to fall for this scam. Luckily his son phoned to talk to him 5 minutes after he put the phone down and told him it was a scam. They had changed the passwords on his PC by then and he had to phone the bank as he has Internet banking on his laptop.

My Grandad said something odd to me the other week, he mentioned he had a 'problem' with his computer but 'luckily a company sorted it for him'. Later that day my Nan said "your grandad had a problem with his computer, something got in there but he managed to get it sorted over the phone. It cost him £250 though"
Anyone familiar with a scam relating to that? I didn't get any more details than that but assumed he had some dodgy email and phone call to sort it.
I didn't mention anything to him as he'd have insisted it was legit (having paid out) as he is the most stubborn **** ever (yes really)

I get these - and have done for years - I do have some fun with them, if I'm in the mood ....... I put on an asian accent and pretend not to understand them!!
Then I stuggle to find the 'Any Key' they want me to press ...... of course, they want you to allow them remote access so they can do as they wish.
It goes on to me asking if they can double glaze my windows system ..... and that would protect me against viruses.
You can get them to meltdown on the other end of the phone ..... then it ends by me saying that the PC is interferring with my phone line, crackle crackle, then ring off!

I got one of these last year, inbetween phone calls to Mangoletsi for my latest Impreza.
They phone our home line, we'd only moved in weeks earlier. He was Asian and sounded Indian / Sri Lankan / Pakistani.
I kept the guy going for about fifteen minutes, pretending to be different members of my generally unpleasant and/or quite simple fictional family, credit to the guy he tried very hard
Best one ever was some American chap telling me I'd won a discount off a holiday to America so I tried negotiating rates to hire a Ferrari as part of the deal, bless him he actually tried to do so!
