Default Why, oh why do I bother?

Our other car is an Astra Mk5.
We decided it would be a nice, cheap mod to fit Insignia mist-type washer jets to it, which I bought for around £5.

The mod is all over Vauxhall websites:
Knock out old jets, reach up under scuttle and pull off, fit new jets to existing pipework, refit jets...they just clip in.

So....I started.

First off, could NOT get the jets to clip back in. Nor could next door's lad and he's a mechanic and 20 stone of muscle.
Advice is to remove scuttle

BUT: the wiper arms have to come off
And the passenger side was so difficult to remove, we broke the wiper linkage plastic end getting it off.
AND three out of four scuttle clips getting that off.

The scuttle clips are repaired, (glued), but the repair to the wiper linkage is temporary, it won't park in the right place now, so: new wiper linkage, second hand, £60 please, kerching!

And who'd like to bet that when I come to remove the scuttle again, it rips all the glued clips off again?

Why do I bother?

Job's done.
Vauxhall forums are full of folk saying it's a ten-minute job.

Not to me, it's not.

Chavvy mist jets? What the actual **** are you on the Insignia fan washers work far better than the factory 2 nozzle jets.

By the by I would just add I managed it in about 20 minutes or so on my old VXR. Makes a mess of ya hands but you can do it on the car.

I defy you to have snapped these washer jets back into place. Seriously.

Even with the scuttle removed, it took a screwdriver to do it.

Don't ever attempt to remove wiper arms without one of these: http://www.toolbox.co.uk/sealey-vs80...FeTLtAodezsAMg

I learnt that lesson the hard/expensive way

Yeah I managed it. Wasn't as easy as the Internet would suggest but it's doable.

You're like me, you get bored and like to fiddle with stuff. Then it breaks, the Mrs gives you "that look" and it costs you a bad mood and pounds sterling
