Before I watch this weeks episode I pressed the i button on my Sky remote and it said disturbing scenes - can't be that bad I thought It's the BBC and before 10 o'clock - Putting someones hand in a deep fat fryer was bad enough, then to put their face in
I was shocked - Is it me but was that a bit much?
The programme is good but a bit too graphic this week.
What are your thoughts?
Tim

I found the suspense worse, than what actually happened!
What a waste of such a lovely face!
To be honest you would see worse in films, and the bits you did see in Spooks, were a hand with some red make up on it and that was it. I guess what it was implying rather than showing was horrific!!

Homer - Nice pic
I agree you see worse in the movies but it still was a bit shocking for the good old beeb! I bet she was not pleased to be written out of the new series on the 2nd episode!!

its wicked to see the beeb actually showing/creating some "gritty" drama
not even a hollywood film would have gone that far - kewl!
this is meant to be realistic, not fantasy as most US mainstream films tend to become ...

As I say, you do see worse in films, but it certainly caught my girlfriend by surprise! Being into gangster/violent/bloke* (delete as necessary) movies, I was kind of expecting it, but thought even the Beeb would draw the line!!
Snowcrash, have you seen Scarface? What do you mean Hollywood wouldn't go that far??? I think Scareface was made in 1973, and it has some graphic sences where someone is killed with a chainsaw!
I think Spooks is one of the best dramas I've seen in a long time! And very gritty and real (to a certain extent!)
Shame Lisa Fulkner got written out so soon! I was busy pointing her out during the first episode (when my g/f was telling me to shut up) and it was dissapointing that she only had 2 lines, but I was looking forward to seeing more of her as the series progressed!!! Tonight blows that out of the water!!!
Look forward to next week, I hope it just gets better!

yes i have seen scarface, i'd say that there are some other shocking films around from that era too, i.e. Exorcist is one that springs to mind, but how many films can you name since the 80's that don't cop out at the end, that the hero always wins, that doesn't rely on cliche's to push a plot forward...????
But then when watching a Gansta film u sorta expect horse's heads in beds, grave's being dug in the desert yada-yada-yada. Spooks is sorta a real James bond, with the threats taken out to full conclusion. How many times have u watched bond and thought.. "Shoot him!" "Shoot Him!" "Shoot Her!" "Shoot someone!" "Ok, explain mental reasoning behind destroying the world" "Try to do a crap Jackie Chan/Van Damme fight.." "Bugger, fall into a flaming pit.." ...
i've lost my track now, what am i ranting on about....?
oh yeah, just that i think it's kewl that the beeb are making this pretty gritty/realistic. And that sometimes Hollywood films suck.

Snowcrash,
I agree with you, most of the stuff coming out of Hollywood is poo, with few high points!
Being a die hard Spiderman fan, I'm looking forward to the 14th June when I find out how wrong they can get a comic!!!

yeah spidey: the movie looks like it will be good.
MiB2 : i will have to see, just for Tommy and Will whooping it up
Minority Report: i will have to see, Phillip K Dick story, Spielburgo, Williams, ILM, drool..... (I wos proberbly one of the only people who liked A.I.)
Matrix 2 : I will really have to see (need more freaky kung-fu - p.s. trailer is online for this)
Austin Powers3 :Muhahahahahaha
X-Men 2 : - the first one was a good taster, this should be better otherwise it will become another Batman stylee franchise.
Then next it's SW:EP3, T3, Matrix3, James Bond 5,342,292,229, star trek 10, Q. Tarintino's next project's, M Night's next projects, the list goes on and on - i'm sure im missing ones out...
P.S. :
SW:EP2 i thought was very good, their is a plot
Dog Soldiers: good for a UK film - blair witch meets alien meets lock stock (i'm guessing thats how it was pitched).

Re: Spooks
Not a bad prog. I was a bit shocked about the deep fat fryer bit but I don't think they went too far. Drama should move you i.e make you happy, sad, excited, uncomfortable etc.
This scene sat uncomfortable with some people therefore it worked. It wasn't a nice scene but really conveyed how much of an total **** the guy was.

What I don't understand is that Lisa Faulkner looks great in pics (like the one above) but on telly she just looks plain and miserable - especially when she was in Holby City.
Very cute in the pic tho

Is it only me, or does the program get to about 10 minutes before the end, without actually anything being solved/sorted, and then all of a sudden its over?
The first week wasn't too bad, but this week we had all the build up, the murder of Lisa Faulkner, and then its over all too quickly - I can't help feeling that they could keep the suspense going if it was a 2-parter each week like so many other Beeb dramas (that other cop one with Nick Berry and Steven Tomkinson, cant remember the name) or at least 2 hours per episode like Morse.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.
