Accountancy/Wages Question...
#1
Anyone an accountant or wages expert?
I need to know what the equivalent salary in June 1995 of £30K pre-tax would be now, seven years later. In this respect, what would you have to get now to have the same salary in terms of value as then.
2nd part is wondering in monetary terms what a m/cycle as a company vehicle is worth in terms of salary should you just get a straight either or. Bike £8k, insurance £750 & tyres/servicing to £1k per annum.
Either the answers or a website that might be of help.
Thx

inflation has been fairly low, so add about 3-4% per year to maintian value - 37k ballpark
usual rule for valuing company vehicle is a third of the value + insurance and servicing, so about 4.5 k in this case. best option is to run it yourself and claim full rate mileage. SHould save you a fair amount of tax.

Do you want a rough couple of numbers? If so, FB's stats are fine. If you need more detail (like for a court case) then drop me a line per my profile and I'll sort something out for you.
Would need profession, more exact dates etc.

hang on
if you want to know exact, i can go up in my loft and get the retail prices index numbers. these should give you a very good picture of the costs.
email me if you want this.

bike as a company vehicle: are you looking for cost to company, or cash equivalent for you to run it yourself?
bike is treated as a 'van' for tax purposes. company can claim back the VAT. You get taxed at 20% of the value.
