Yes REM sleep is generally acknowledged as the phase in your sleep when you do dream. Not so many dreams (if any) in deep sleep. You need a mix of both types of sleep to wake feeling refreshed, it normally goes in phases throughout the night.
I rarely ever remember my dreams but last night I did have one about a receptionist who used to work here that I really wanted to bone but the dream wasn't that saucy It's during those dreams I wish I could lucid dream, a technique where you can train your mind to be semi concious when you realise you are dreaming and can then direct the dream to be how you want it (i.e. act out your fantasies). Sounds like fun though I think it has led to a few people going a bit mad after they've indulged for too long
