Tuscany, and visit Florance, Lucca, Sienna, san gimignano, Pisa further out Perugia, Orvieto

The Campo in sienna is simply a must see

But all simply stunning, as is most of italy

Food, is the best the world has to offer

Avoid the coast/beach at all costs, if you need water go to a lake, plenty around and huge

second vote for Tuscany, plenty to do there and great food, the lakes in the north are nice but lots of over priced rubbish food up there. Tuscany is also close enough to Rome if you want to go there as well.

No Moley,

But have always meant to go as I am a very keen wind/kit surfer

I have been to lake bracciano a few times

I may take take my Son in the summer to Lake Garda (with some other fellow fathers and sons) as a well done post GCSE trip

But apart from a crap beach experience (Greece best in the world for that IMO)

Italy is simply stunning, and the people are great and very child friendly - needed when you travel with 5 kids

Florence is stunning, been a few times - we can easily spend 10 day there. Amalfi coast, with a stop off at Capri via Sorrento would be great. From Sorrento you can visit Pompei/Herculaneum/Vesuvius. I always tend to book via Expedia.

Bobbio is awesome - mates have a place there.

Foothills of mountains about two hours South of Milan. Properly Italian and you can swim in the massive river.

I'm going to Lake Garda in June for 2 weeks. Staying at Sirmione. 9 yrs ago I stayed at Riva and hired a car. Did Stelvio Pass as well as a visit to Modena

We go to Italy every year. Done Florence, Rome, Sorrento twice, Puglia (exclusive and beautiful) and Sicily.
Can't wait to drive the Dolimites again in June.

Another Tuscany vote although it's the only bit of Italy I've been to so far. We did our trip DIY, cheap flights to Pisa with budget airline, hire car booked to pick up from the airport (after an hour long queue at the Hertz desk ), and booked two separate villas one near Sienna and one a bit north of Lucca (very scenic). Had a fantastic time.

First villa was in amongst the vine yards and had a hot tub, although this was shared with two other properties there nobody seemed to use it. Amazing chilling under the stars whilst sipping on a glass or three of Chianti

Oh and if you go to Sorrento you must hire a car. The Amalfi coast road to Positano is amazing. You won't get out of second gear often though! Just get a small sports car as the roads are generally narrow. We had a Fiat Barchetta
I drove that road several times day and night. The view above Positano is stunning, especially as it gets dark and the lights come on in all the buildings..

I used Citalia highly recommend. There is so much to see and do, you need quite a few visits to do it justice.

I did a week split between Bardolino on Lake Garda (nice place ) and Stressa on Lake Maggiorre. Both places lovely, very pretty. Great food, proper pizza not the rubbish we get here, but VERY expensive. One café was £4.50 for a sprite and all they did was put a 330ml can and a glass down in front of you!!

I had a few too many beers last night in Bardolino, very cheap night out, beautiful town.
