The Good Customer Service Thread
I have always felt CS has been pretty crap in this country, but there are some decent companies about after all, two of which deserve a mention.
Zippo - the pin went on my zippo as it had done in the past, unbeknown to me you can send them back to Zippo for a free repair which I did on this occasion and they also inserted a new inner case free of charge.
Simple Human - Bought one of their stainless steel kitchen bins 3 years ago and I have had 3 replacement lids free of charge during this time !
I love companies like this that believe in their products so much they offer free servicing and parts
Anymore we should be aware of ?
PS Lewis need not contribute, you'll be looking for the Poor Customer Service thread

Amazon are pretty good IMO
Funny you've mentioned Simple Human as I must get round to requesting a new lid for our bin (also broken). Good that you've had a positive experience although personally I don't think the design of it was that good to start with.
PlumbCentre - went in for a replacement bleed valve for a radiator and then whilst at it got a new bleed valve key as I'd misplaced my one. "How much do I owe you?", "Don't worry about it mate, only a few £ of bits, not worth raising the paperwork for it"
Local mechanic - can't fault them. Honest, reliable, send out MoT reminders, etc.

McDonalds;
I was waiting nearly 10mins this morning after going through the drive through for porridge that takes 1 min in the microwave!
Girl came out and asked for my name, she told me that i can have free meal next time I go back

Leatherman. The g/f at the time managed to snap one of the blades. Returned it looking to get it repaired but was sent a shiny new one. Well happy.

Good idea this thread.
Hmmm makes you wonder if it's worth the extra ££ to buy a premium branded product and know if it goes **** up then it can be repaired/replaced etc.
I don't buy much stuff but impressed with Amazon and how quickly they deliver.
Also, Richer Sounds have always been helpful.
Enterprise for car/van hire are decent too.

Our local milk delivery couple (husband and wife team) is the BEST EVER with their customer service. They never, ever fail to deliver. They give you free milk if their milk boy delivered red-top instead of green-top by mistake. You just have to leave a note out, and they follow the instruction as told without delay. They also give us a free calendar every Christmas with a pre-order sheet for turkey, vegetables, eggs, cream etc.
My only complaint is that their milk boys forget to pick the payment envelope from right under their nose. But that's no harm to me.

On a similar vein to leatherman, Victorinox, I've sent a few damaged ones back - broken blade tips etc and got new ones back, or in the case of my more valuable collect able ones, they have been repaired at my request for a v low fee.
Costco as well - good service from them.

If the contacts are made for complaining not thanking, I blame general consumer behaviour and their lack of understanding for the concept of patience. Next day delivery could mean two hours to some. So they must moider Amazon with their cantakerous emails, I suppose.
We do have exceptions, like some grateful Amazon customers on this thread, though.

As for why so many complaints, probably because of the sheer size and sale of Amazon's operation. In the whole scheme of good vs bad purchase experience, my guess is the good far exceeds the bad.

Amazon were good listening to me last week - but, because it was West End Entertainment fulfilled by Amazon - they did absolutely F**K all.
What happened was I ordered a 4 CD Box Set of Soul music - only Volume 2 arrived.
They said send back, but - to be honest (and I told them this) - it was hardly worth doing as the Box Set was cheap [I now know how West End Entertainment do the price now, just send out 25% of the order!!!]

Southern Electricity Shop (via Amazon), replaced with new a Panasonic shaver that became faulty after a few months, sorting and paying for delivery of new and collection of old with minimum of hassle (and at no cost to myself).
An independent supplier of bathroom equipment called C & B Systems, from whom I placed an online order for a small item of brassware, only to cancel the order very shortly afterwards by email when I realized it wasn't exactly what I needed. For some reason they failed to spot the cancellation (probably Xmas holidays mix-up) and shipped the thing out anyway, but when I called them up they refunded me straight away no questions asked (true to the policy stated on their website), and told me they'd sort collection of the unwanted item some other time. It's still in its box in the spare room, and might eventually end up on Ebay, as they don't seem too bothered about it.

The only time dependant thing is 6 months - within 6 months the shop has to prove that the item was NOT faulty at the time of sale, after 6 months YOU have to prove that it was.
