Always came across as a bit of a patronising bully. He admitted himself he was 'difficult'.
Shame for his family and all, can't say I take joy in the death of people who aren't total bottom feeders but never struck me as a 'good guy' at all.
I might have it all wrong but that's the perception.

I used to work for Esure in Reigate and met a number of people that had met him whilst he was filming the adverts.
They felt he was also a horrible man with a perchant for bullying and shouting at people.

I always got the impression he was a spoilt, obnoxious git who made some mostly bad films and said "Calm down dear" in a patronising way on an advert for an insurance company (for which he is best remembered), had a lot of nice dinners and was rude about them a lot and was generally unpleasant to be around.
I would be nice about him but I beleive he did get to boff Beverely D'Angelo (The mum from the National Lampoons vacation films) and I cannot forgive him for that, she was mine !
