Angry Begging Adverts .....

I'm sure that I'm not alone in getting really pi55ed off with these Adverts, begging for 'just' £4 a month ....... just in the last 30 minutes I have seen:-

1. For a Dogs home - save more dogs so that the problem gets bigger.

2. NSPCC - the single one I have a feeling for and wish to contribute.

3. Tigers - pay £3 a month, get a Certificate + Booklet + A Cuddly Tiger toy!! WTF? Keep the tat and put it all to the Tiger preservation.

4. Save a starving child in the third world - a starving child is natures way to cull the population down to numbers which are sustainable FFS! Save one baby girl, and, in 15 years you will have 3 mouths to feed - 15 years more and another 3 ... and so it goes on!

5. A Donkey Retreat - give us money so that we can live in a big house in the country and pay for us to enjoy our hobby of saving poor Donkeys.

STOP!!!!!

I give to charities as and when I can but these adverts are getting worse and worse for emotional blackmail. Almost to a state of anger by the watchers.

It's gets worse, I've had them knocking on my door.
Last one that came calling was the Red Cross, few quid a month by direct debit, I don't think so!

That Tiger one is in association with Sky and , believe it or not , it trying to save the rain forest where it lives . . . . . . . . . . .by sending you enough paper photos and leflets etc that probably came from the very trees they are trying to save.

Day before Christmas eve we had one knocking on our door at 9pm.

Used to see them shaking tins or buckets in supermarkets, but now they don't want your spare change, just your bank details to set up a direct debit.

The worlds a screwed up place.

Half of the world are starving and people object to giving £4 a month of their money to a good cause and instead they'll probably **** up against the wall on a Friday or Saturday night.

I'm as bad as the next man but when you really look into it we should all rot in hell for not doing more to help those in desperate need.

That was deep.

These adverts are really starting to annoy me as well.
Pete is completely correct in what he says in regards to starving children in Africa, its just a shame that they dont see it ! Harsh but V accurate.
More annoying is that I can easily remember when all these ads where asking for £2 a month now its £3 or £4 !

I'd rather keep these adverts and lose the personal injury adverts.

I've got another good idea - change the channel?

Yes, I do.

I'm very old now and I remember in the 1950's we were being asked for money to save a child in Africa.

I gave then, I helped organise charity events for those starving children.

I'm afraid that those baby girls I saved in 1955 gave birth to about 10 children, I am now being asked to save their childrens children!!!

Sterilise every single female in areas which cannot handle more people - that I would pay for!

Well China took steps to control its population problem through high taxation / paying for everything if they decided to have a 2nd child, but that would not work in African countries. Education for the African countries from the 1950 to now does not seem to have changed their ideas of having large families to ensure that some survive, so maybe its time for a different approach.
Then again I feel we should start with this countries problem first - probably starting with young females having kids to get a council house and lots of hand outs !

I offered to give £10 to the NSPCC and they refused to take it. they wanted £3 a month and I refused. I can not belive they wouldn't take a one off payment of £10.

As for starving kids in Africa, Sorry but if they stopped breeding the problem would go away.
I did write to Anglia water saying that I want my water from Africa as it would only cost £2 a month, they were not happy...

I would be happy to send money to the starving kids in Africa if I thought it would do any good, but it won't and it never will. Those responsible for their plight are the totally corrupt governments that run these countries. The likes of Mugabe are ever present, lining their pockets to the detriment of their fellow countrymen. Zimbabwe has sufficient resources to feed the whole of Africa but thanks to Mugabe it can't even feed itself. Most of Africa suffers from the same problems.

tbh can understand the feelings that have been said..

just my two pennies worth...

1. For the last 30+ years we have had the save africa adverts/collections/appeals etc. At what point do we say no more, if after 30 + years of having help they still aint in a better postion then why continue, maybe at some point we need to ask where the countless Billions have been going.

2. One argument for the amount of starving children is RAPE by soldiers and terrorists, Which of course is completely disgusting HOWEVER not all of these children are from these circumstances so the argument as a whole is invalid.

I would like to point out I do give to charitys that look after BRITISH people (i.e Help the Heroes) as my personal feeling is how can we help others before our own?

As said that is my opinion and my 2 pennies worth.

I'm not religious so won't rot anywhere, thanks.

I refuse to sign up to direct debits unless necessary, however I always pop in change where and when I can. I won't feel guilty when the buggers are being pushy at your door. It's like they're on commission or something

Fatten the donkeys up by feeding them the dead dogs, blended to a pulp....

Feed the donkeys to the tigers..... fatten them up..

Then kill the tigers and feed them to the starving kids...

Problem ficking solved.

I'm disgusted by some of the views in this thread. The children don't choose to be born and to think that a child dying if starvation is acceptable is disgraceful.

In my opinion of course.

The so called governments of these countries that are seeking "Charity" should think first before spending their money on arms etc!!!
Corruption is King. We donate food & medicine to some of these countries only for it to be pilfered by corrupt forces etc.
Some of these countries need to sort their own problems out before begging for handouts!

Remember the whole Band Aid/Live Aid Bob Geldof Ethopia thing in the mid Eighties, IIRC the population of Ethopia then was just over 40 Million, today it's around 90 million IIRC, money well spent there.

Anyway why is it always down to us to save the ******* planet and everybody on it? Nobody likes us anyway why should we actually give a ****?
