Default Vinyl records??

Do vinyl records have any value to them,I guess it depends on which ones you have?
Only ask as I got given a load today which all pretty much look in VGC,if there's any gurus about ill put a list of them up.

Thanks folks

They sell well on ebay, yes.

But put up a list and I might be interested in one or two.

Generally they're worth a LOT less than you think, unless you have something recognised as rare.

The best i can do is a mint copy of Now That's What I Call Music, volume 1, but even that would probably struggle to make £50.

I had 40 or 50 old records from the days when I fancied myself as a DJ (I was dreadful at it) which I took too a local record shop last year and got £80 for, so if there's somewhere like that close to you it's worth seeing what they offer.

They didn't want the Mrs' collection of early 90s boyband singles though... they ended up in a skip

Ebay is the best place to get an idea of what they are worth (just have a look in 'completed items'). Generally only 'mint' copies are worth anything,.....

I sold a load a year or so ago. Split into 10 at £25 buy it now seemed to work ok and shifted all 200 that way on e bay.

Still have a few hundred here but don't think I'd get what I think their worth so will probably keep them.

I have a Stranglers single (with a withdrawn picture sleeve) that's worth £500;

...in mint condition (which it isn't)

Worth perhaps £250 or so.

That will be `Peaches` the blackmail sleeve, The band didn`t approve of it because of the way it was spelt out like a ransom note so had it withdrawn, Very few survived as most were destroyed.

Yep. Mine has a sellotape mark on the front, which is a shame. I believe there are slightly more in collections than might be realised, because a significant number were sent to radio stations as promos with the FREE4 radioplay version.

Still, it's a relatively valuable item.

When I was a child I had the teenage mutant ninja turtles lp I believe it was the only one made - won in a compo. The family split up and when I was about 16 I was offered it back. Knowing it would be worth something I said yes. It was ruined... One of my sisters let her brat drew all over the case n scratched the lp to ****!

Can't seem to give them away, for some reason.

I was watching Legs & Co. from 1978 on the telly tonight, and it made me yearn for a less uptight, less PC world than we have to suffer nowadays.

Too many to list but I have 3 early oasis 12" Promo's on white label that are maybe worth something now.

I have records in the collection worth well over £500 each and even found a track I made in 1995 going for $425 in the US! (must dig out my spare copies!)

Sold Led Zep 4 in pink vinyl for £40 on ebay some years ago to a collector. At the same time I had an original 60s Stones single (brown sugar) on as well but it didnt even get a bid.

Greensleeves is a very collectable lable now and you always get the completists wanting everything, Early Oasis Demos have always been worth money and have been also heavily counterfeited, I know for a fact there are fakes of `I am the walrus` - `*** on feel the noise` - `live forever`, because i have them in my hand

Had an acetate copy of Daydeam Believer by the Monkees.
Metal disc .single-sided,type written label.

I was just a kid & had no idea.............used & abused it.
May have been an un-released version.I remember it had some talking at the end.

I bought an Imported EAGLES Greatest Hits way back in '78 from the Oxford Road, London.

It's in green vinyl ..... not sure if it has any value?

Have my dads old vinyl records , Beatles , Monkees , Simon & Garfunkel , Top Of The Pops etc. All 60s / 70s .All in excellent condition. Looked on Ebay a couple of years ago and there was so many variations in value i just put them away again.

They will either be worth more in the future , or nothing at all.

My mother in law has asked me to offload her record collection, loads of sole, r&b jazz funk etc...

Is eBay really the only way to go, I cannot be arsed to list them in their entirety.

You could sell them as a collection or there might be one or more worth keeping out to sell seperately, If you can get a list to give me an idea of what's there and I'll let you know as there can be good market for the right sort of stuff.

I remember going into 'Selecta-disc' in Nottingham a few years back. An old mate found original cellophaned copies of The Prodigy's 'Experience' and 'Music for the Jilted Generation' albums. For £10 each B&stard
