Default Help with watch choice

I am looking to buy myself one time only a good watch it comes down to these two both of which are Titanium.
The Seiko seems very hi tech perpetual calendar solar powered keeps time to worlds time clocks and adjusts to time zones with a touch of a button is this likely to malfunction and should I just stick with a normal omega what would you go for?

Personally I would go for the Omega , But its a PO big size , Defiantly try it on before buying , It might look to big on your wrist . And I bet its really expensive . The Seiko looks nice but not special enough for a 'one time only watch '

So I would pick another Omega , Personally I would love to own this one .

Just need the six numbers

Omega all the way for me

Seamaster for over ten years and still looks brand new, just had it serviced for the first time(£300) but well worth it if you average it out

In honesty I'd say the Omega is more likely to go wrong than the Seiko. See the servicing costs in the post above for an insight in to automatic/mechanical watch ownership. Supposed to be done every few years (nobody ever does though ).

Seiko is a high grade self-charging quartz and generally speaking the only thing to fail on them is the battery. Automatics go wrong in various ways, running fast, running slow, certain bits failing or comming adrift (winding rotor, hairspring, escapement etc).

So which one? I'd say if its going to be worn everyday, the Seiko will probably take the abuse better. But its bloody expensive. And second hand value will be next to nothing so its money in the bin.

The Omega will always hold value. But being a new one it will still depreciate alot, especially when the fad for giant watches goes out of fashion, but it will still have a good brand following.

My honest opinion....a second hand Omega PO...or a used Submariner

Of the two I would say Omega without even thinking, I like it better than my rolex which just lives in the safe as I feel it too big for my wrist. I had my seamaster (mid size) for about 12 years now, its worn as an every day watch, its never broken down, serviced once and new pins in the srap this year, but to be honest it does not keep that great time. Yet if I see another midsize I like I could be tempted to swap it for another Omega.

Thanks for the Helpful replys every bit helps in choosing. Someone suggested Citizen over the seiko as they've been doing the whole solar power Eco drive longer and to look at the Japanese market ones called attesa http://www.citizen.com.hk/?content=8...roduct_id=1051

That's true; Quartz movement Seikos usually have a kinetic system to charge its battery. Citizen and Casio have always been solar.

The exception is Seiko's spring drive watches, which is a unique type of watch movement that you won't see in any other watch, and very rare in the UK (I'd have one myself if they wern't so scarce and expensive ).
