Default What cement to use for rebuilding a concrete BBQ?

I bought and built one of these in the Summer, about two weeks after that we decided it was time to move.

So, I have been out tonight and pretty much stripped it into pieces again, it actually came apart with worryingly little effort.

But now I have a bunch of parts, and was wondering what cement to use to rebuild it, will normal cement be up to the temperatures reached in theses things?

Any ideas?

4 parts building sand to 1 part Portland cement plus some plasticiser to give you a bit of working time should do the trick.
'Normal' cement should be ok, it was on mine.

My ole mums got one these, but I'm fairly sure it's just concrete blocks stacked on top one another, this is in France

The BBQ came with a pot of powder that was simply mixed with water and used, unfortunately this has all been used and I don't have the pot any more.

Yeah, it's gonna beva while before I need to build it again, just trying to get organised.

If you're really lazy like me then B&Q sell Fire Cement in a mastic gun.

Don't use fire cement, it's very expensive and not for that at all.

99% of your bricks won't even get warm.

4:1 as above.

As above normal bricks will be fine as they are usually made in temperatures of around 800-1000 C, and your BBQ won't get anywhere near that. I would use a 4:1 mix also, and as mentioned above put a plasticiser in. If you have some great but for what you're doing just squirt a bit of fairy liquid in to make the mortar more workable.
