So, if womens insurance is going up, even though, statistically they have fewer claims. This means the insurance companies are going to make more profit, unfairly IF they then don't reduce the overall cost of insurance for blokes.
Correct?

So does this mean that no one will have to disclose their gender on insurance applications...if it is no longer being taken into account for calculating the premium why do they need to know?
As stated all it means is male insurance will stay the same and women's will increase, which as my other half is a named driver on both my policies they will increase any way

I'm hoping this won't affect me too much as being over 40. I am not looking forward to the day my daughter wants us to pay for her insurance

Hubbies insurance went up when he put me on his policy as a named driver
He pays nearly the same as me for an Astra diesel -v- my WRX and I have points and previous, he doesn't. I will end up paying more but I bet his stays the same

I'm 21 and was buying a 2008 vectra estate 1.9tdi for work and there wanting £4500!!!
Just for one day no one in country buy fuel and everyone call up there insurance companies threatening to leave them...
If this country could go through with it that will be fuel drop and insurance!

Under the old system a woman paid £100 and a man paid £300.
Under the new system they pay £200 each.
Woman has a 100% increase, man has 33% decrease - end result is equal though.

Don't believe the headlines.
On our specialist schemes it's always been the same price if you're a male or female.
On computer driven prices women getting cheaper prices isn't always the case, sometimes males come in cheaper (for the same risk).
The insurers have known about this change for a while, and the feedback we get is that most have worked around the issue already, so things won't change for most.
The only change (that i am aware of) is young females (under 19) will see their prices go up, and young males will see them reduce slightly.
