Sweet Cheeses!!

Having a problem with a piece of equipment on the end of a bt socket using a bt line, to check it I plug a phone in to the BT socket ( bt supplied phone ) and no dial tone, it will still dial out!! plug another phone in (pound shop phone ) and this time there is a dial tone and still dials out, if I swap the cables on the phones it reverses which one has a dial tone and which one doesnt although they still dial out, the line isnt a feature line or an autodial line its supposed to be an standard annalogue line.

No, as I tried 2 other brand new BT cables and another bt supplied phone!, all the same issue but BT have tested the line and say its fine although does their line test not only test to the capacitor on the face plate?

Is this on your main socket from the outside or from an extension within the house?
