right folks, the missus has dropped hints for ages that she wants a ring for her index finger so ive decided to get her one off the kids for christmas, trouble is i dont know what size to go for. she only has slim hands but i dont know what the size chart for women goes in. ( letter wise) do any of your other halfs have a ring on there index finger? could you find out the size?

For ring sizes, the place you buy from will differ on their size range. Ernest Jones and H.Samuel go from size I to S (I being the smallest).

Do you know the size of her 'ring' finger? If you do, the index finger will usually be a little bit bigger, but really no matter what you do, you'll be guessing unless you just ask her.

Does she wear a ring on that finger on her other hand ? If so either nab it for the day , or slip it on your little finger and see where it fits too. Jewelers have a ring scaler that you can put on your finger to match how far up it goes on your fingrr.

When I bought the Mrs her engagement ring I guessed oversize. Dunno how but I picked the bang on one luckily but my guessing was a bigger one could be made smaller rather than the other way round.

Better to take a ring that fits and measure it using a caliper. We are men right? Surely we all have digital calipers?

I did this with the ring that my girlfriend keeps leaving around and then looked up the measurements on Wikipedia.

I then told her the size, but I havent bought a ring...

Ask your wife to put her finger in your ring, if its too slack you need a tighter one

Remember!!! Before you buy it make sure they will happily exchange it if it's the wrong size. I did this and the shop tried to say it was custom made... Yet I took it from the window... Never went back after the refund but do check first.
