Was the guest host on Have I Got News For You this evening and I have to say it was somewhat embarrassing.

I agree he did well for an 85 year old: But to be honest, just sitting there and not soiling himself would probably be classed as 'good' for that age ...

He did ok, but as so often, it was Hislop and Merton that carried it.

did not see the program, but every time i have seen/read or heard him being interviewed, he comes over as a thoroughly decent chap

85??? In that case well done tbh.

Terry Wogan is the one that irritates me for his hosting/presenting on TV. Very dull indeed.

I imagine then that all those who are so quick to criticise him would of course do a far better job than he could if they were parachuted into the host's chair!

It is normally accepted that Hislop and Merton are effectively paid to carry the show as a rule anyway.

I think he did pretty well for his age, and I bet that many of those whiners would not be able to make it unaided to the host's chair when they reach the great age of 85 years old anyway!
