Roger
IMHO
It may be the pad wear indicator which comes into contact with the disk when the pads are down to the minimum. I get through pads @ around 18K in my MY99, no track days, just road use.

could be a stone or debris trapped between the pad and disk.

Another front disk replacement for stress cracks, nice to see, mines had 2 sets of replacements so far.

As for bedding in. I was told to take the car up to 60mph and apply very gentle pressure until speed drops to 30mph. Repeat this 10 times applying ever greater pressure. Then from 60mph bring the speed down to 0mph with ever greater pressure. Then the brakes will be bedded in properly.

Hi,

I've noticed a scraping noise under gentle gentle braking (i.e. from 5-10mph down)and last night when I got in the car at 8.00pm first application of the brakes left me 15 feet further than I ought to have been.

2 questions

Does the scraping suggest that the pads are on the way out (15k miles 3k since last service)or cr4p on the disks/pads that needs to be got rid of by some enthisiastic braking?

Could the lack of brakes last night be down to the weather and damp disks/pads - it got better after some emergency type stops though still a bit mushy

fyi in Exeter last night it was cold/damp/foggy/wet but not raining and had been like that all day

all help/thoughts appreciated, thanks in advance I know this topic has been covered a bit but as search is busted......

R

Edited to add its a MY00 wagon
