B@stard fish
We have a small cold water fish tank with 2 fish, a snail and a bottom feeder.
One of the fish is a bugger and is always chasing the other fish around.
Should I flush it and get different fish? Callous, yes but it is a bully.

What a bassturd fish you have, I agree. It can surely do with some grilling. But for the animal-friendly person I am, I'd give it away than flushing it down the toilet tbh. Ok, it could be like a fish out of water at the new plaice as it won't have its victim to chase, but its not your haddock. When it fishes for fight at the new plaice, there might be a bigger bully in to chase it around or even batter it like ****. That should teach it to tuna tune of its own.

Goldfish are the worst ones to keep to be honest. They are greedy, messy and aggressive. There are plenty of other temperate water ones that are much more interesting like danio, platy and mountain minnow. Keep the goldfish in a separate tank by itself...

They were sold as cold water fish.
Would more fish stop the bully picking on just one fish - sort of share the pain? The bottomfeeder (a hong kong plec) hides a lot but when it comes out, doesn't seem to get picked on.

Would a 19L tank hold 5 barbs? I don't want to get rid of them unless I have to.
This website suggests that if there are 5, it subdues this behaviour.

There is a humane way of killing fish, But I can't remember the chemical. In my tank the mum had 14 babies and one from the go would always follow her. At first I thought it wanted his mum but as it got bigger it begin to chase all of the other fish in the tank ( even bigger ones) I watched him for a few hours one day and noticed he had actually taken bits out of many of the fishes tails... He was flushed without a second though.
It's not fair on the other fish for one to chase / torment the community. How big is your tank, how many fish do you have and do you do frequent water tests & changes?

As said, 19L, 2 Rosy barbs, 1 Hong Kong Plec, a snail. 10% water change each week. Had it for 2 weeks. Filter fitted
Bought for the kids so I don't want the solution to turn into a 55 gallon heated job but I don't want to cause distress to any fish in it.
Thanks
Steve

Just to clarrify, both fish are rosey barbs.
They were sold as cold water fish.

Plecs rarely get picked on cos they`re hard as **** Their `armoured` exterior puts a lot of fish off picking on them.

If you want pretty cold water barb like fish go for some bitterlings plecs are fairly temp resistant and are only really bothered by other grumpy plecs. Bitterlings aren't widely known or available but you can buy them online from a good aquatics shop in Ipswich that sells on ebay If you haven't had the fish long have a word with the shop you bought them from and get something more suitable/unheated.
