Default Telescope - sky watching

Upstairs in my house, there is a landing area where last year I fitted a huge velux window. I have noticed recently during the autumn evenings, when the sky is clear I have an excellent view of the sky. This window faces East.

Would it be possible to place a telescope on the landing, and without needing to open the window, have a good view of the night sky? From a bit of background reading, I notice that most people tend to set up their telescope outside, even those who have built an observatory in the garden, have done so with a retractable roof.

Am I wasting my time? Am I limiting myself by not having a full view of the sky?

Yes, but obviously works best without anything inbetween the telescope and the object.
But as long as there is no light inside then it should be fine, just your view of the night sky may be a bit narrow.

The glass in the windoe will be out of focus so you won't see it, but it might just cut a little bit of the available light out.

You are likely to get some distortion or ghosting of the image.
