Ipad, any good for watching Iplayer?
More and more i find myself watchin tv on iplayers, BBC and ITV. Is the Ipad suitable for this, or would i be better off with a conventional laptop?

I'm the same. BBC iPlayer, Itv, 4od etc. all work fine on my iPad.
BBC iPlayer can even download programmes to watch when you are away from 3G or WiFi for up to 30 days.
I rarely actually sit in front of the TV these days except to watch films in HD and even then, they are Sky+. Guess the only properly live TV I watch is F1 and BTCC.
Cheers

What about the practicality. A laptop has a built in stand ie the keyboard. You can use it anywhere. How do you watch the ipad in bed. Do you have to hold it?

It does work and works well. You can use a stand or a case to make it at the correct angle.
A laptop will give you a larger screen and is my preference unless I'm actually in bed ....

I watch alot of programmes (BBC iPlayer, 4OD, TV Catchup etc) on my iPad 3 in bed.
Gets my vote over a laptop for watching programmes because it's much more portable and versatile. I can watch it laying in bed, or in the garden, or the bog :P
I also rent films on iTunes and Netflix, and hook it up to the TV via the HDMI cable and it works a treat!

It's fine for iPlayer or 4OD. Screen is plenty big enough unless you are planning to sit 5 feet away from it! Put some headphones in too and the sound is excellent.
