Syria - Should we help?
Well the French seem to be taking a lead and will be pushing to relax EC rules about sending weapons to the newly recognised opposition out there although they want to restrict it to "defensive" weapons only, whatever that means
So should we support this which carries a big risk of escalating the rebellion into all out war which could include anti-Assad groups fighting each other? It would also upset Russia which is probably not such a good idea.
Or do we just keep out of it and let them get on with it and just hope for the best?
Lots of people on here were moaning about the UN not doing enough even though UN's hands were tied by Russia and China. Do we have a moral duty to interfere and try and stop so much unnecessary slaughter of innocents?
So what do you think? I should state that I have no deep knowledge of the country and am only going by what I hear on the news.

Should we help? Should we ****...
Not our buisness, not our problem. We need to learn to stop sticking our noses into other countries **** and learn to sort our own **** first.

There were several references to sorting out UK problems first so I was pointing out that our problems pale into insignificance in comparison.
There have been several report of families who have had their throats cut.
My view is that we should stay out of it.

It depends who we're helping. What I am now resolved on is that the Assad regime needs to go in order to completely isolate Iran. I'm interested in who replaces Assad and how we can shape that, but couldn't stomach arming or giving cover to Islamofascists. We really don't want a gang of bearded men running Syria.

So by helping them does that mean we get to bomb the **** out of them and kill more civilians in 6 months than the naughty dictator/s did in his/ their entire time in power, at a cost of god knows how many billions at a time when the uk economy is in debt up to it's eyeballs and likely to be so until my 5yr old sons grandkids retire.
Yeah why not, i'm sure we have some spare missiles somewhere that are due to require decommissioning, should save us a few quid if we just fire them at some random muslims, there's far too many of them anyway, who's gona miss the odd hundred thousand or so.

it reminds me of the quote by an American General in the Vietnam war
when justifying the killing of innocent civilians
"We had to destroy the village in order to save it."

We should not intervene in Syria at all. It is obvious the anti Assad club has a lot of Al-Qaeda types floating about and from where we are we sitting we do not know who is committing such crimes... Do you people still buy the official story? Reported to you by the same people who claimed Saddam had WMDs lols.
