Default Anyone seen the sun recently?

We keep being promised days with "some cloud".
They turn out to be thick and grey and last from dawn until dusk.I don't think we've seen the sun in four days now.

B*gger!

It's when that daft Scottish bint comes on in the morning talking about Scotlind and Northern Orlind, then tells me I'll have SOME cloud and some sun....then we get solid cloud all day.

Bl**dy MetOffice: not fit for purpose.

bit of both dpd

tbh, I wanted to go to El Medano (Tenerife) as most of us have sailed there many times, but the wind is probably not as consistant this time of year

but was out voted

the weather was superb, and because the Island (Boa Vista) seemed to be colonised by Italians the food was fvcking good too

all in all a win win win

I don't know if we had any sun in N. Wales lately. I had had really bad sinusitis for last 2 weeks, so I couldn't really face up to the sun to check whether it was there or what. It has been quite mild here (touch wood), I can tell you that.

Do you eat a lot of dairy products as this used to cause my sinuses to go daft ?

No, not at all, Sipie. I drink semi-skimmed milk in my tea, and occasionally eat some yogurt. Not into chocolates and any other dairy products at all.

I have had irritation in my sinuses for a long time, but when you are on a treadmill, you just carry on until your body breaks down. I do tend to get colds and allergy like issues, and I manage them with antihistamines. However, my visit to a steam spa brought the illness to the surface big style. I had already had a set of Amoxicillin in the middle of October for my throat infection, but I was nearly dying with my infected lungs and sinuses by the end of October.

My GP couldn't give me an appointment anyway, and the nurse said that as per new rules, doc wouldn't give me any more medication (apart from analgesics and anti-inflammatory) without testing my sputum, which I had no strength to take back to the surgery. I slept so much during last two weeks; it was like getting in and out of consciousness. I simply couldn’t keep my heavy eyelids open and had to just stay curled up in bed like my cat; all shivering and sweating for days. After a week of living with a swollen face, stiff neck, photosensitivity, running-like-a-tap mucus with terrible rotten taste in my throat and breathing discomfort, I desperately had to visit the out-of-hours medic. He gave me a week’s supply of Augmentin to defeat the bacteria. Still not 100%, but on the mend-ish now. Sinusitis, when it is that bad, is really minging. I wouldn't even wish it on my enemy.

I could notice and feel that the sun was smiling up in the sky here this morning.
Pretty chilly now in the evening here.

I have stupidly smoked in the past, and even before I started to smoke, I suffered from RTIs since very young age. So, I should never have started to smoke, I know. However, I have been a non-smoker for a while now. I do suffer from hayfever quite a bit.

Thank you, Si. I may get myself tested for allergies. I did ask my doc but he seems to have little faith in allergy testing. I'll go private to get it done, if it helps. I keep getting Sinus discomfort, and it does my head in; literally. After knowing what's causing it, I can cut out on what I need to. Not cutting out on my cats, though. They are my little deities. It could be the Ivy around my house, or the dry, heated conditions in the office and at home.

Nice and clear sky with some sunshine here atm. Have a good one, all.

Nice one, my friend. Enjoy the day.

BTW, that boat you once posted the picture of (it was on another thread a while ago. You and your sister apparently learnt to sail on it) looked absolutely amazing! It puts Johny Depp, the drunken Pirate of the Caribbean in shame. Seriosly, a beautiful boat.
