Question Nexus 4 - yes another phone thread

Does anyone know if the Nexus 4 is going to be in the shops tomorrow or only available through Google's store?

I would like to see one in a shop as tempted to replace my iphone 4 (for as much as I think it's an amazing gadget it really is a terrible phone).

£279 for the latest spec 16gb smartphone sim free sounds too good to be true so really would like to see what they are like.

It will be very similar in most ways to the Galaxy Nexus (Gnex), so if one of those crosses your path in the meantime it will be a decent representation. The major differences for the Nexus 4 (N4) will be performance and battery life, neither of which were exactly shabby on the GNex, but the N4 is said to substantially improve both.

In comparison to the iOS world, some things about the Nexus devices ease the transition; for example Nexus devices don't have SD card slots, and all of the storage is available as a single location. Updates come directly from Google, and are available when Google release them, especially devices bought from the Play store.

What I would say is that if you find that on the whole you like the phone, but there is some interface aspect or app you dislike, remember that you can almost certainly replace whatever it is with something closer to your tastes - you are not required to use the built-in email/SMS/browser apps, not are you obliged to keep the keyboard/lock screen/widgets you get out the box.

From what I've read it's very much like the LG Optimus G (unsurprising considering LG make this iteration of the Nexus phone).
Seems like a hell of a bargin, shame it doesn't come with expandable storage or at least come in a 32Gb version.

Well it sold out on the Google store in less than 30 minutes last night. The contract's at o2 and Carphone Warehouse are laughable compared to the sim free price. So looks like it will be a while before these phones are readily available direct from Google when they released so few on the 1st day.

I think my 'phone was a real bargain...£2 off the market! Works perfectly too.
