Default Deep fat fryers. Why....

....does the fat used in them turn into the stickiest substance known to man, (since Toxteth O'Grady produced the world's stickiest bogie in the Young Ones)?

And what can be used to clean it off things?

Oven chips I can do with some meals, but they just don't do it with bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, etc.

Or steak, really, I don't know why.

Deepio. In fact, if you drain the fat from the fryer, fill it with water and mix Deepio in, once up to the boil, it does a great job of degreasing th e fryer.

Oven Mate is an excellent product for shifting stubborn marks. I use it to get the tough bits off my hog roasting ovens.

Nooooo - you don't have chips with a fry up - fried bread, black pudding, tomatoes maybe but not chips

Use ANIMAL FAT such as lard or dripping instead of vegetable oil. The chips taste better and it doesn't go sticky.

I've got about 40 litres of pure lard from roasting pigs. If you want some, you can have some!

Yeah, but would the chips come out like oven chips?

had some last night: McCain Home fries.
They LOOKED lovely, but were bland. Acceptable as a source of carbs, but added nothing to the meal, even in a chip sandwich.

Beats me how all these kitchen cleaners that "cut right through the grease" won't even TOUCH the oil once it goes sticky.

The heat required for decent chips will burn olive oil.

Try "Oven Pride/BBQ Pride" on a brush but make sure it's used in a well vented area. The basket and bits can go in the bag. It's fu*king mental stuff if you get it on your hand or bare skin, so wear the gloves provided.

Oven Pride doesn't even come close to Oven Mate. Even after pressure washing it off the hog roast oven, with gallons of water, it cleaned the slabs it drained on to and killed off a patch of nettles that had previously been immune to the strongest weedkiller I could get my hands on!

I buy the cheapest fryers I can find from whatever supermarket has them on promo and when it gets too manky I just bin it and get a new one. Probably doesn't break even cost-wise versus buying cleaning products but it saves a hell of a lot of time and effort.
