Default RBS Customer?

Hi,

Ive just had this through my hotmail from RBS. I dont know what going to happen with our accounts but it looks like santander has fallen through

Would any of the money-people have anything to speculate on what will happen? i.e. what if you have a mortgage or a loan with them? what if you have savings, how safe is it all?

Ta

Updating you on the sale of RBS branches and accounts

As you'll be aware, the European Commission requires us to sell part of our UK banking business, including RBS branches in England and Wales. However, as you may have read in the press, the deal to sell this business to Santander will no longer be progressing.

This means your accounts will not be moving to Santander.

What happens next

We'll continue to keep you informed and give you plenty of notice if there are any changes that affect you.

In the meantime, you remain a valued RBS customer. It's business as usual and you don't need to do anything. We apologise for any uncertainty this may cause you and we'll continue to look after your accounts as normal.

Nothing will happen.

They are simply not selling to Santander anymore. Another buyer will probably be found

Why are they "required" to sell?

Your "hotmail" seems a bit lukewarm as this news is a couple of weeks old now.

Virgin have been looking at taking it on, but this is latest.....

You've got to be careful when your savings are only protected to £85k per Institution ... you've got to watch who takes over.

I've been getting this message for the last few days whenever I log on to internet banking, and a different one before that stating that the Santander deal fell through - I'm actually quite happy as I have nothing but bad experience with Santander since the took on my Alliance and Leicester account and wasn't relishing another bank move
