I went to Lidl today, we have one across the street from our office and I've never been, they had a good fresh bread section, really nice crusty rolls, bought a couple for lunch. They were better than anything I've had from likes of sainsburys and tesco.
I went to Aldi with a mate from work last week too as he mentioned they had thermal socks on offer cheap, I bought 5 pairs for work. They seem decent quality.
Been told Aldi fruit and veg is meant to be really good too.

Myself and a workmate went to a liddl For summat to eat while we were working at a factory next door
We had orange juice with bits ( bits of what ?) lol
And cheese and onion pastys
Which when we looked on the ingredients it only totalled about 80% what the other 20% was I've no idea
To be fair the stuff was cheap as chips and quite nice

Yes, basics will be cheaper in any of them. But you have to have time to go around different supermarkets for bargains, and time is the most expensive commodity.
The admin girl from work nipped out for supplies yesterday morning for an hour and a half. She got the long life semi-skimmed milk cartons from Tesco, biscuits and tea/coffee from LIDL and toilet rolls from B&M. She must have missed about 10 business calls during her cost-effective shopping mission. This kind of money saving strategy is penny wise and pound foolish. She should have got the lot from Tesco and should have got back in 45 minutes at the most.

I don't know, man. It's a very odd shop.
I hear that Mr. Aldi and Mr. LIDL are two German brothers. Someone told me that they don't get on, and they are out to fail each other. That could be the reason why they sell some very odd stuff that they buy from the wholesellers, and then blag it for cheap for their competitive sibling rivalry. One day, one of them will reduce to selling things for nothing; just to make the other one see his @rse. Then he will be on his own @rse. God help them.

Anyhow, she has all the liberty at work. She is always texting her sportsman would-be husband in America from her iPhone, bless her. We don't mind. Young love and all that. She is good at work (when she is working, I mean), so no complaints, really. But the logic still stands i.e. sometimes it is better to shop at one place, and thus save time, if not money.

They are both good. I don't understand the inverted snobbery as I shouldn't imagine many scoobynetters do a weekly shop at Waitrose?
Fresh bread products at Lidl are really good as are crisps, nuts, juices, cheeses, cold meats,pastas, tinned veg - they always have Hellmanns mayo, Heinz ketchup etc plus good prices on beers. I like the Geffenwalder Pils (however you spell it!) at 85p per can.

I've noticed aldi have started selling more well known brands recently
Although they still don't have monster Munch , they stock monster claws and bonsai trees ?
The buyers must love it ,,,, I reckon they just have a laugh and see who can get the daftest item in store
Here's summat I found out at aldi ( off the store manager )
Someone told me they sold sticky stuff remover for when you remove stickers / decals
So I was looking round the store and couldn't see any , so a girl said I'll ask the manager
He came out and said sorry we've not got any
,,, but you don't need it anyway , he then said use this , and grabbed a can of aldi furniture polish , sprayed it onto where the was an old sticky label , rubbed it with his finger and off all the sticky stuff came
A bit off topic , but might come in handy

I'd say Aldi and Lidl depending on who's closest really.
We have an Aldi 5 mins walk up the road and it's great for midweek treats from other countries And the random krapp as mentioned above.

I gotta disagree with that aspect - Self Service Tills are a very backward step and i refuse to use them (along with several other people at B&Q yesterday).
It was crazy to see two employees trying to herd customers into the zombie-tills whilst the one customer-centric till had a queue. Even the most stupid T&M expert has got to see the flaw there!

I'd rather a lidl counter clerk than self service at morissons, my god one day ill lash out at their machines

Why are they a rip off , they have higher overheads , better checkouts , have to revamp their stores , and invest in the latest technology ( self service tills )
