Default After a new shed, these good value?

So we need a new shed, after i converted the old decrepit one into a kennel. A 10x8 is roughly the biggest we can fit.

I've seen this company which are fairly local and seem good value for the money. £510 for a 10x8

Do they look good value? Any other companies that are recommended, maybe cheaper?

Will be selling after a year when we move, but all this stuff has to get out the house.

It looks like a good price. About 5 years ago I bought an 8x10 shed and it was around £800. That included delivery and construction.

Do these sheds have any wood treatment? Mine was tanalised (which apparently is a good thing).

I used these guys...

I was sceptical at first, as there are a few horror stories and delivery isn't the quickest, but it was delivered to our driveway and the couriers said it was a good quality unit(t&g), so that started well for me. Good price for the size(16x8). Only thing i would say is i beefed up the joists and the felt is garbage.

Seems okay, got ours from a local saw mill for a similar price. Not tanalised but was treated by them. After a few years of weathering it does look like it would benefit from another coat of wood preserver.

I've got a delapitated 6x4 wooden shed in my garden, on neat breeze blocks. Seeing the price of the wooden sheds, I'm tempted to drop a few more breeze blocks down on compressed soil and get one of those plastic/metal ones. They seem a good price with decent longevity. And aren't that much of an eyesore if looked after. I'm thinking mainly on a security front. Or is wood still preferable?

Not all sheds are equal. Check out the type of weatherboarding, the thickness of same, the robustness of the framing materials, the strength of the door, the quality of the roofing felt, etc. I think if you pay less than £6-700 then you're likely to get flimsy crap - 10mm ship-lap, 32mm square framing and so on.

Shed quality varies wildly. A friend has just bought a 20x10 shed to house his model railway and its leaking already and the roof sagging. He is in a pitch battle with the suppliers to get it sorted as its been poor from the get go.

Our old shed is just held up by the logs we keep in it now.

I suppose that I will have to replace it but they seem to be more expensive than I expected.

I got a plastic one from costco, about 700 including VAT but should last forever and no need to treat it or any of that malarky. Also easier to put up as it does not rot if it sits in water.

Build your own

Much more satisfying, cheaper, you know it's done right and you can chose your own materials!

Anyone want that crappy little shed shown on the left on the last photo BTW?

I'm looking into a shed for my garden and you are right. I was under the impression that a couple of hundred quid would buy me something massive but i was very wrong. A decent shed costs £££'s

The diagonal bracing in your door is going the wrong way. It should be placed so that the weight of the door puts the brace under compression and transfers the downforce to the hinge side.

HTH.

Nothing that a litre of unleaded and a match won't fix

Ummm....I did give this some thought beforehand and was convinced I had it the right way round . Nevermind, a small error in the scheme of things!
