Thought about getting one as we have a large expanse of wood flooring + a few tiled areas that could do with a deep clean once in a while, especially the bit under Finley's highchair

No idea what's good and what's not though but will watch this thread.

i got a hand held one for the car interior and sofa. Cleaning isnt the right word. It cleans as much as a damp cloth would , but it clears smells and germs well. The likes of mould in bathrooms etc is good ,too but wood floors will be pointless , or "cleaning" upholstery.

Bottom line - they're nothing like as effective or easy as the commercials would have you believe. Unless you have real issues applying pressure with your hands, a steam cleaner will almost always be more faff and less effective than conventional cleaning methods. On floors they will leave it a lot wetter than the telly suggests, you will have to dry it separately unless you really can wait an hour or so for the moisture to evaporate. Added to the fact the build quality is usually only good for very light domestic, their lifespan is limited. If you're a gadget freak, yes maybe, otherwise you aren't missing much.

My wife bought one off Groupon recently, she said it was ok but dribbled a bit, I've not tried it yet so I can't comment.
