Have a search of youtube for quadracopter vids. There are a couple of Uni's that have many, many mini quadra's flying in unison, looks like an invasion fleet

Have got a pair of v1's hacked to fly at about 800ft AGL overhead. My v2 only arrived last week, weather has been crappy, so only flown it indoors so far.
v1 cameras were not that good but the v2 ones are excellent. So a second v2 is on the cards shortly.
Got these to replace my KAP rig that was getting a bit old hat (and needed wind). With a pair you can do stereoscopic aerial surveys etc. And some nice snaps.
Got them all working with the iPad OK, but using an Android tablet mainly as easier to write your own software. E.g. I have mine v1s setup to fly patterns, e.g. search grids, search spirals etc. automatically. Could do with more flight time if I'm honest, but better batteries seem to be available every day.
Only do this for fun but potentially useful. Sub-grand UAVs are coming apparently, i.e. proper multiple payloads and proper flight time, a mix between the mega expensive pro UAVs and the Parrots if you like.

Have I read that right? Surely these things can't fly 800ft above ground??

Hacked from WiFi to use 3G instead they can. Or using RC equipment instead of WiFi as I do it.
Couple of guys in the States have their heavily modified v1s running over 1200ft in good conditions. Wind is always the biggest problem though.

It is the wind I was talking about. These things weigh virtually nothing I presume and so will get blown away by even a gentle breeze won't they?
