ebay CAN be useful too......
My youngest brought home from uni his crepe maker. Someone knocked it off the top of a cupboard and the switch flew out and into pieces which were lost.
I took it to bits, searched ebay for a new switch and had one in the house in under 24 hours from buying.
The crepe maker now works again.
Total cost: £1.99, to include 30p extra for first class delivery.
Ebay works.

My youngest is defo not posh either........LOL
But he IS sensible enough to have eaten properly while there, and we bought him this as it's quicker and easier than a frying pan.
Also crepes are cheap and filling
All of €29 when there were €1.62 to the £, so a whopping £17.90 LOL

I once did 6 weeks on cold baked beans out of the tin and cold rice pud, ditto.
No money to buy hot food.
Our gas was cut off, no electric heaters, fekking Irish thieving landlady had been taking our money and NOT paying either bill.
The leccy was on courtesy of a large nail across the main fuse contacts
