Afternoon All

Been looking into charging my air con myself. Whats the kit from halfrauds like?, is it as easy as it looks?

Used them kits before, although bought cheaper elsewhere.
I think they were around 50 quid last time I looked in halfords.
I wouldn't normally reccommend them, but Kwik Fit wont charge if they can't make your air con cooler.
Unless you know your aircon works 100%, I'd get Kwik Fit to do it. If you fork out 50 quid for a can, and you find you have a leak somewhere, or your condenser has given up, you are out of pocket.

the belt goes around the alternator too, surely you would notice it had fallen off as the battery would go flat all the time as it wouldnt be charging when running and also cause the battery light to come on in the dash.

i replaced my aircon rad (off eby) because mine had a hole

and recharged it with a Halfords kit

the air was then cold, I sold the car a few months later, and the air was still running cold

so a thumbs up from me

The kits are a waste of space

They don't test for leaks
They don't remove the air out of the system
They don't fill the system correctly
To fill the system correctly you need to fill by weight which is about 3 times the quantity of a can

Where I work does the proper AC regas for £30 + vat & a nitrogen leak test if you think you need it for £10 + vat, so why would anyone shell out on a DIY kit which may well be a waste of money.
