Benzine in unleaded petrol is known carcinogen and in diesel exhaust fumes it is the particulates that could cause cancer. I'm not sure how these claims stack up since all new diesels now have particulate filters for some years so the particulates are almost non-existent and doesn't say how carcinogenic they are. However, you only have to hear the words "compelling scientific evidence" and a "UK Government department will carefully consider the report" to know that the writing is on the wall!!

As long as my Diesel keeps up the almighty power of snapping my head back and re-arranging my internal organs due to its rocket ship acceleration, I shall pay whatever it takes to maintain those thrills.

Modern diesels have a filter in the exhaust system to prevent the particulates from becoming airborne fron the exhaust gases.
The ECU will cause the engine to run in a fashion when necessary to burn the particulates trapped in the exhaust system.
