SORN
Help needed please.
I am putting one of the TT's up for sale which has just been taxed,The insurance is up for renewal on the 17th this month. As i would sooner sell it taxed can i just declare sorn or does the disc have to be cashed in?As i understand it a car cant be taxed without insurance,But does the sorn with a tax disc mean yes it is taxed but by declaring sorn i wont be using it,It is parked on private drive and not roadside. Thanks for any time and answers given.

SORN is off road notification tax disc needs to be surrendered.
If you then want to take off sorn then you need to buy a new tax disc.
If your buyer wants to test drive it you will need it taxed and insured to take it on the road or risk getting stopped.

I had an absolute nightmare trying to sell a car without Tax, but I couldn't tax it as the insurance had also ran out
The car wasn't worth me taxing and insuring for the money people were offering so in the end I scrapped it
If the car is SORN then it has no tax, even if you kept the disc but that would then be an offence too
best bet is to cover note insure it for the duration of the sale period and tax it until is sells and take the hit or take the disc back and refund it after the sale
