Default DVLA SORN

Ok...

Sent SORN letter many months ago as I rarly use the car in question..

Had a letter saying fine £40 as they hadnt had sorn document... *****

Wrote back on their form explaining I sent the sorn letter about a week before last licence ran out, they wrote back saying tough pay up £40 or in a few weeks will be £80, also they said send in the confirmation letter they send 30 days after sending in original sorn document. This must mean their system is pants and they dont keep proper records...

Advice?!

Cheers

Any evidence of the original such as Proof of Posting? If not, pay up I guess

Next time, do it on-line. Then you don't have to rely on the postage system.

Unfortunately, if you have no proof of sending out the Sorn or the confirmation letter, they are going to presume you didn't bother sending it.

If your vocal and polite enough, you may, and I mean just may find someone in the call centre who will waive it for you. Good luck to you though.

My old car was SORN'd. Eventually sold it to a guy at work who got it back on the road etc.

Weeks later received a letter trying to fine me £40 for not un-SORNing it. 2 days got another letter saying ignore the first. They are very slow at updating stuff.

Just SORNed mine at the local PO. Confirmation is stapled to the renewal reminder and given back to you.
