Default Retail advice and returns

Wondering if the SN minds can help me out here.

I bought a tablet today, an Arnova 10 g2 android job to use as an e-reader. A lot of mags I read are US based so I get as PDFs so subsriptions are dirt cheap.

However I thought and as it turns out wrongly, that KIndle had an android app out. They do, however android market is now a google product called Google Play store and this tablet ships with something called Applib.

To get play store on this thing I have to root it, voiding the warranty.

Is this reason a valid reason for return, the sales person did confirm that there was a Kindle app available for tablets. It doesn't do the one thing I actually wanted it to, any tablet will read pdfs.

If you were sold a tablet that the salesperson said there was a kindle app for............ and there isn't, then you were sold something "not fit for purpose" and can be returned.

The salesperson should be identified on the invoice.

Cashier is, sales person isn't. It was a bit like a production line there today.

Have you actually used it? If it is in saleable condition, most retailers would accept goods back this quickly just because of a change of mind. If they are difficult, you could argue that you were given incorrect advice.

Just go back to the store and see what they say. Just say that it isn't suitable for what you wish to use it for, and go from there. Unless the packaging is really damaged and the item has clearly been used, I can't imagine you'd have too much trouble getting your money back or an exchange.
