Default keighley trade and performance

I know over the years that this place has received a hell of a lot of bad press. I recall reading a while ago that it had changed hands. Do they still have a bad rep and does anyone have any first hand experience of dealing with them recently? They have a car that I like the looks of but am a little wary from what I've read in the past.

Cheers in advance for any help.

Treat it as if buying privately and i can't imagine you'd have a problem?

Get it fully inspected by the AA, make sure everything is in order and surely you wont be in any trouble?

What could go wrong?

Avoid at all costs. If theyve ever sold an honestly good car there then they did it in ignorance.

I have a guy who works for me in shipley (leeds) who knows the owners of keighly quite well and has told me they are the biggest con artists going and are actually quite smug about ripping people off. I often go up to leeds and have never heard a good word about them.

my advice would be google keighly sports and performance and have a look yourself at the reviews and make your own mind up.

I doubt it will take you to long decide!

I also heard of a well known car (private) dealer further south who has had dodgy subarus of them (as I have not seen any evidence Im not naming names).

Their expensive cars are ok by all accounts however the cheaper ones (most of their stock) are shocking ... I'd stay well clear.

But why would it mean anything if they have a bad rep?

You view the car, if its ****, then it's ****. But if you had it fully inspected etcetc and found nothing then what could go wrong? It would be no different from buying anywhere else?

I bought a V1 STI off them a few years ago, let's just say I learnt the hard way by having the engine rebuilt. Don't touch them.

I don't understand how they are still in business with such a well known bad reputation that has been around for years.

The only people who buy from them are people with no access to the interwebs.

Idiots that don't take advice/see a bargain and pay for it later or people who don't frequent forums/are not in the know.

To be fair if you are young and don't know much about cars it's easy to get ripped off unless you have help from someone.

Anyway I heard Keighley don't just sell dodgy motors but often they just give people one set of keys to the car they bought - say it is an import - then a few days later the car gets stolen.

Anyway it's Bradford isn't it?

Very simple, if you buy from a respectable dealer, and DEVELOP an issue they may give you help and advice, if you buy from these guys and develop an issue you are liable to be told to do one

You lot do understand they are not car dealers???......there's plenty around Bradford .......the car game is just to clean money up

I was at another garage with my missis picking up a car when they asked if we would like to leave as another 'customer' had tried handing over a dodgy bankers draft..........we stayed
Within minutes this poor lad and his mate were bundled / beaten into a RRS

Every car on the pitch has been used by someone......
There's a reason there a grand cheaper than anywhere else.....it's the risk you take

For the record I have nothing to do with any of them but have bought and sold a fair few between them and touch wood never had my fingers burned

I drove over three hours to view an X5 on Saturday after speaking to them before I set off. He said that he wouldn't sell the car before I got there. I even said that if he took my mobile number to give me a ring if he did to save me driving all the way for nothing. He said he wouldn't do that. Lo and behold, when I got there he had just sold the car and was completing the deal!!!! I looked the car over and it had scratches on every panel and big dents in the wings. The cars don't seem to be in very good condition in general. I asked the Asian gentleman who had just sold it what happened to not selling the car before I got there, he just laughed and said he had another one I could look at. I said to forget it and promptly left! Save yourself the time and money; buy a car somewhere else!

If they were the last place on Earth selling cars i'd give up driving and use public transport. I can't believe anyone would ever buy from them with all the stuff on the web about them being utter turd.

Went years back to have a look at a couple of GTR's before it was widely known they were crap. Drove 3 hours there, was there for 5 mins and came home.

Utter garbage.
