Prometheus (Contains Spoilers)
Can't wait to see this Ridley Scott masterpiece . Trailer looks great
, tell you what I know , it's the prequel to alien , remember the ship that they found with the dead giant inside that ship was the Prometheus ,
From what I can tell Scott has down sized aliens from the original script

In the film, Prometheus is the ship the humans use to get to LV426, or Acheron (Greek mythology oft refers to Acheron as a river which flows to the underworld) having decoded a common element in many hieroglyphic markings on Earth from lots of different ancient civilisations. Prometheus in Greek mythology was a titan, a demi-god, who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortal man, and was thus punished by being tied to a rock for all eternity whilst an eagle pecked out his liver every day, only for it to grow back to be eaten again. The film paraphrases mans ascendancy from the discovery of fire to the height of our technological advancement and disregard for deity, seeing us seeking out our origins only to either see ourselves destroyed, or destroy our creators. In short, the Space Jockey's are the gods, and the ship with the Alien eggs which crashed on LV426 was thought to be a bombing mission en-route to Earth to use the Xenomorph destroy us as a failed creation, with the crew of Prometheus unleashing fire to try and save us all.

SPOILERS - if you've never seen Alien films.
3 was ruined by in-fighting and budget cuts. It was David Finchers first full film IIRC and he didn't do bad afterwards (Fight Club, 7, Social Network)
I had seen the un-edited version for some reason before it was released anywhere (The story was a mates sister was seeing someone on the set and she gave my mate a copy)
If you give it a chance, its actually quite a good film.
Resurrection was a complete rip-off from a comic story - the only real change was ripley being cloned and newt and hicks not being in it. Joss "I have no idea why they keep using me but they do!" Whedon claims it's all his own material but that is complete ****.
Ressurection is let down by a bit of a **** ending. Brad Dourif starts to talk and the editing is all screwed up yet they left it as is? Also, for reason theres a bit missing from every version I've seen except when I went to the cinema - hardly a spoiler as you'll never see it but when they cut the cord of the Queen from Ripley she wakes, grabs an orderlies arm and snaps it 90 degrees.
Also, in Aliens, Ripley does find Burke after she finds Newt and hands him a grenade - she has Ripley in her arms and you see the explosion and her stumble but it is actually Burke setting off the grenade.

The editing of Aliens (theatrical release) was terrible, in parts did not make sense - the scenes in the medical block (welding up doors etc) only makes sense in the directors cut with the inclusion of the Sentry gun systems
Still a cracking film, great dialogue too

That got me too
Could never understand why it was released for cinema in such a way
Because it is such a complete film in every sense on viewing the directors cut
Lets hope this prequel gets it nailed first time /

IMHO....
Alien - 10/10 - Masterpiece
Aliens - 10/10 - Awesome popcorn shoot'em'up
Alien 3 - 7/10 - Much more faithful to Scott's original, but ruined by executive involvement
Alien Resurrection - 3/10 - Ruined the genre

"We're on an express elevator to hell, going down." "I'm ready, man, check it out. I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art! You do NOT wanna **** with me. Check it out! Hey Ripley, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the **** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?
