Irresponsible parents in cars!
Picked the kids up all this week from school.
driving down Wednesday, slow traffic close to the school and following l a black Civic, i can see a small child jumping about on the back seat. I follow the car in and park and two adults get out of the Civic along with a 3/4 year old. I politely ask the two women why the child is not in a seat and they look at me like i am mad. I collect my two kids from school and as i am getting into my car i see the Civic drive off with two kids loose in the back and jumping/playing around.
Today following a blue Citroen mini type thing, it is driving slowly/erratically (you can see the person on the phone) and it clips the mirror of a parked car, keeps driving and pulls into the school. I go and have a word only to see a very small child, could not have been more that 18 months old loose on the front seat and the woman still on the phone. I ask her what he is playing at and did she realise she had hit another car (as i spotted the child) and asked her why such a small child was loose on the front seat. There was actually a child seat in the back of the car!
She said she was in a hurry!.
I reported them both to the police, i cannot understand how any parent can be so negligent when it comes to their kids and the safety of other children!
Oh and yes my kids where strapped in on their booster seats in the back of my car

I often see this and if possible ask them if they would drive around with an antique cut glass vase rolling around on their back seat? I mostly get the answer "of course not!" So your kids mean less to you than a a lump of old glass then! Usually does the trick!

It's pointless speaking to them as it's obvious they just don't get it, i wouldn't bother wasting my breath on them, sad thing is if it all goes badly wrong it will be the child that suffers, and i'm sure the police will not follow it up as there is no money to be made.
My lad used to play up merry hell for a short while and unbuckel himself when he was around 2yrs old, and i had to stop a few times to clip him back in, so went and got another seat that was bloody hard to undo and that soon did the trick, but how a person can drive off with their child not fastened in is also beyond me.

I always make sure my 1 year old son is in his baby seat and well strapped in.
parents who don't strap their children in are just lazy and irresponsible
and they are taking a very big risk with their children's safety which for me is a big NO NO.
It is good you reported them Zohan as maybe next time they will strap their children in.

i dont see this tbh,
cant understand the mentality of anyone that would do that - its probably down to "it wont happen to me" syndrome. and most will probably get away with it, sadly there will no doubt be some children who pay the price.

And, I totally agree with you. Amazing how many folks do smoke in the car with the kiddies though and that is so wrong.

One of my pet hates.Just selfish. If you wear a seat belt why would you deny your children the same protection??????
I once saw an old Escort cabriolet on the A3 with the roof down & about 6 kids jammed in the back standing on the seats holding onto the roll bar & generally mucking about................
Another elementary error is putting the baby seat on the drivers side so when parked they have to get the child out on the road side of the car.

To put it politely, I had a lot more concern for her children's personal safety than she had, judging by her response.
