Just flights? I went through Emirates, £1700 and this was after the price went up a few hundred after my friends had booked their seats a few weeks earlier.

This is in July of this year, hitting onto winter in Oz but heading to Perth then up to Broome which is still nice and hot.

Emirates seem to be offering some good deals.

Whoever you go with, the A380 is the way to go.

I don't know anything about them but have you considered seeing if a connect flight is cheaper or see what the prices are if you were to book for next week?

Been looking since Xmas and quotes from Manchester to Adelaide were 1100-£1300
Just got a cracker of a price through a high street agent for singapore airlines £897
Even cheaper then Singapore airlines own website for September
Only bad point is 16 hours delay going out but I can wander round Singapore for the day and grab a VIP lounge for £16

Try Qatar who I normally use when going to cebu via dohar they have just started flights to aussie and are always cheap with us to Asia

Always factor in the 2/3% cost of credit card into the price

If your planning for next year gates open 11 months before hand for the best early prices although they regularly have sales on every few weeks with a 10 % discount

I I used border travel at dumfires although Dawson and Sanderson in Carlise are very good
Sometimes you find a local travel agent can match and even beat the Internet boys
Trailblazers are quite competitive too and no dreaded credit card fees

'Only' bad point?? How long will that added 16 hours make the total journey time?

We are always able to find many cheaper ways of getting to and from NZ but who can be bothered with numerous connections, dodgy airlines and terrible timings.

I always factor around 32 hours total time for Edinburgh to Auckland and the thought of adding and extra 16 hours to it , no thanks

To be honest Singapore is a good place for extended stop
Normally have 5 hours back from Cebu anyway but with this flight I got its limited to Adelaide if your going to sydney I would imagine more flights from Singapore alternative is stop over packages with a hotel in either hong kong or Singapore for roughly £100 which breaks the journey and you see a different culture
Singapore to me is one of the finest city's in the world
Manchester to Singapore is normally 12/13 hours and about the same to Aussie
I have found when travelling straight to Cebu I prefer a later afternoon flight as you tend to doze off after about 6 hours which will be around midnight uk time so at least you get some sleep morning flights 9am tends to mean your awake all the flight and when you get to Singapore / hong kong etc your body just wants to sleep instead of your being active and wanting to explore
This one to Adelaide unfortunetly will be a killer for us as we will fly at 9am hit singapore at 9pm and then 16 hours so hopefully split it with 7/8 hours in Singapore and the rest in a VIP lounge at £16 or hotel room for £28
The boy odd it via hongkong and paid £1050 one way and had 9 hours in the airport and manged ok
The airports are fantastic over there and cater for people with long connections very well

Go direct to Singapore air,Qatar, Emirates, Malaysian air etc and get on their email list. Every so often they will release good price tickets.
This approach does take a bit of nerve and is best suited to buying well in advance of flight.
Went to Melb a month ago with QATAR for £820 return, one hour wait in Qatar giving less than 23 hours airport to airport.
Bought the tickets about six months in advance.
Pricing does tend to be still subject to seasonal influences unfortunately.
The plane was a 777 which is as good a seat as you will get, providing there is no engine failure
