Any quad expert?
Hi all,
Couple of months ago i bought a 2002 Honda Foreman 400 and it ran perfect for a couple of days.
After some riding i found it was refusing to go into Neutral and anyone who knows these bikes know that they wont start unless they are in neutral, however spur of the moment i thought if i turned the quad off and let it cool for say 5 minutes it should maybe want to go into neutral however the ****** wouldn't start and i was left with a long push home.
After some research on a US site i found that by simply adjusting the clutch it should solve the problem, which it did.
Out i went again up the fields away from home and it was refusing to go to neutral AGAIN so i thought if i turn the engine off and adjust the clutch it will be fine but after 30 minutes in a cold dark field the thing wouldnt start so pushed it home.
Again a US site came to the rescue, i cut the neutral wire and grounded it to the negative terminal of the battery so it now registers as being in neutral and will start in any gear which is great, problem is that the quad wont go below 2nd gear, it will pull away in 2nd and up to 5th no problem but wont engage neutral, 1st or reverse.
I'd be facing a £300 garage bill just for them to tell me what wrong, anyone know anything that i could try?
Change of plans mean that i no longer require the quad so want to fix it before i sell it.
Cheers Adam
