Default Anyone had a proper close / wet shave before?

I'm quite interested in getting one done on the morning of my wedding day mainly as I normally dont get a superclose shave as find it impossible to go against the grain. That said I also have quite a heavy & dark growth.

Due to both those facts if I shave early morning I normally have a pretty noticeable shadow come 1/2pm which isnt too great for the wedding photos.

Looking to book a trial run in before the big day just in case I come up with a rash but has anyone here had one done and how did they find it? The place I am looking at suggests to come with 2 days of growth to achieve the best results:

Start with a Hot Face towel followed by a relaxing face scrub
Then lathered up with a badgers brush
Followed by an open razored shave
Then an oiled closed buffer shave
Followed by a warming deep cleansing face mask
Finished off with an ice towel and a cooling post shave cream

Cheers
Simon

I had one on my wedding day in turkey so was a Turkish shave where they singe you ear hairs.

I can't say I noticed a huge difference from the decent razor I use at home.

But it does feel good getting it done for you!

Is this part of the standard shave or just because you have excessively hairy ears?

Do you have a heavy growth though? I have mates who shave every 2-3 days whereas I could do with shaving twice a day

About 30 miles away so not that close. And unless I miss something its a shop that sells shaving stuff rather than somewhere that actually does wet shaves?

Haha no everyone gets it.

I would probably say I'm the same as you. But I'm not always clean shaven anyways.

From the website:-

Come and visit our retail shop in Hungerford if you need a haircut or shave or just to browse our retail shop devoted to shaving products, leather goods, gifts and accessories for men.

Our Barber Shop has a team of 6 Barbers, 2 men and 4 women and they have an excellent reputation both locally and further afield.

I got it done to remove my MOvember moustache. I'd got a few days growth all over as well. I'm really surprised how little pull there was. It was like someone just rubbing a pen on your face. It never caught or pulled and was super-soft. I'd definitely recommend a turkish/cut-throat shave.

If you grit your teeth and use a really sharp razor. you can get used to going against the grain.

Its not the getting used to it Les its the bad razor burn I get as a result. Also most of the proper shaving guides I've read online tell you never to go against the grain.

Are you getting married or is it a civil partnership? Because I must say this is the most ghey thread of the year so far.
