Love him or loathe him one has to admit that he is a forceful character who will stir up the current hornet's nest that is the current political scene.
Clearly a lot of folk support his anti-war stance and his 10,000 majority was a real kick in the teeth for Labour.
He's a guy that I sort of dislike but then find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says
Any views?

Wonder if he'll turn up to the house in a cat suit .... It'd liven things up anyway. Still, he did win by pandering to the local Muslim community, anti-war and all that. Don't think he's got any more policies up his sleeve apart from that. A very cursory look at his website just brings up
All touchy, feely BS but no actual policies.
Still, good for GG on stuffing the 3 major parties, but he'll now have to watch out for any skeletons unearthed in Libya ......
Dave
The Respect Party is opposed to war, privatisation and unemployment.
The Respect Party stands for peace, publicly owned services and a decent future for all.
We want a world in which the democratic demands of the people are carried out; a world based on need not profit; a world where solidarity rather than self-interest is the spirit of the age. We want to reach out to all those who share our views, to build a new party for change in the interests of ordinary people.

Agree the Party blurb is waffle and if I have a moment I want to see what they say about immigration.
Actually I say him on TV fairly recently and he looked quite a bit older and he seemed to have lost his usual sharp edge. In his heyday as an orator when he was on form he was second to none!

Oh, and postal voting was "quit5e high" ... Bearing in mind his majority was about 10,000 ..... http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.u...al_vote_fraud/ ...
Coincidence I'm sure ...
Dave
ccording to Mr Galloway, 10,000 people have registered for postal votes in the by-election. He said he was “vehemently opposed to the postal voting system on demand” because it was “wide open to fraud.”
Coincidence I'm sure ...

Now he plays sectarian politics, attracting the 'Muslim vote' by whipping up emotion about Imperials wars; Iraq, Afghanistan,...even Kashmir and Palestine. What has that got to do with lack of jobs in Bradford?
Grows a beard says he doesn't drink alcohol. Says Allah says you should vote for me. Rides around in a bus with the same colors as the Palestinian flag.

He is deffo a complete opportunist, but it is surely a credit to our free democratic society that people like Gorgeous George can prosper? Or would you rather the Taliban or Bashar al Assad?

Whatever one thinks of Galloway, and I certainly am not very impressed, I think the result is indicative of the respect in which politicians in general are held by the general public.
Apart from the economic disaster which was NL who were so happy throwing all our tax money away and overborrowing out of sight when our cash was running out, we then had the personal expenses revelations which were enough to convince the public that politicians were indeed out for themselves above anything else and could not be trusted anyway.
The lot in power at the moment seem to find it more important to generate what they believe to be the right impression for their own political purposes and seem to give a general impression of incompetence anyway when it comes to running this country for the sake of the people! They also appear to be copying NL's habit of producing vast innovations in order to improve our lives but which either don't happen or are so far in the future that they probably still won't happen!
I wonder how many people there are these days who would say that they would trust a politician!
I therefore think that Galloway's enormous majority was really a protest by the voters who were looking for a way to let the other two parties know what their standing is really like in this country.
